Cooking Tech

Today at Cooking Technology, we made raspberry jam.
We brought our own jars and frozen raspberries. People had different ideas like apple sauce and strawberry jam. So they brought ingredients required to fulfill their recipe.
I started by opening the bag of frozen raspberries and pouring them into a saucepan and heating it up until it became runny. One it became runny. I transferred it to the pot stand to pour approximately 3 cups of sugar and ¾ teaspoon of tartaric acid so the jam would set. After the raspberries got to an even more runny and liquid state, I poured the jam into our glass jars and took a spoon to taste test it to make sure it didn’t need any more heating.
We finished the day off by planning another project next week that involves loaves and a good number of ingredients.

Tech Craft Term 1 Week 2

Today at tech we had cooking technology, and we revised what we learnt from last year and extended that learning, it by learning more more useful information.
We started by discussing rules for the class with the examples of, no put-downs or have courtesy for others and make sure that if you have cut/bruises you seal it up with a plaster/bandage.There are a good handful more rules but it would be a long list.
After discussing almost all the rules and about washing dishes we talked about how and where to store different kinds of food and how to avoid cross contamination. Cross-contamination means that raw food is stored at the same place where cooked food is, and this is how it gives food poisoning.
When a food is cooked the bacteria die and although they need warmth to perform binary fission, if the temperature is high enough at about 135 to 167 Fahrenheit the bacteria will eventually die and will make the food that will be cooked have 99.9% bacteria free and will be good enough to eat and when it is stored near a raw food the germs from the raw food will transfer over to the cooked food and will just contaminate the cooked food and therefore will give food poisoning. We also drew a diagram of a refrigerator and learnt where each type of food is supposed to be stored. We also learnt what the refrigerator actually does because people had misconceptions of how it preserves food but it actually just keeps the bacteria from multiplying which makes them helpless since binary fission required heat, gas, water and of course food. The freezer also keeps some of the food frozen like ice-creams, red meats, fishes, etc.

Explanation of pets

Pets are a beautiful classification of animals scaling from the smallest of mice to the biggest of dogs and the most scariest snakes. Pets need love, food, and water to live and so as all the gases.
When people think of pets they think of dogs, cats and birds but the truth is that many species can be considered as a “pet” this includes fishes, snakes, mice, and runts/small pigs.
Many pets have categories and almost every type of classification for animals can be considered as a pet.
While there are many varieties of pets, my writing will focus on Dogs!
Dogs come in different shape and sizes and most people think they are some big mean and evil but these are all just stereotypes and I feel bad for all those dogs being bashed because of the reputation that the more aggressive dog breeds built up. Example, The German Shepherd are aggressive to the same gender so male will be aggressive the males.
That gives dogs a horrible stereotype because breeds like Pugs and Golden retrievers are actually a friendly breed of dogs and people avoid them.

2017 Recount

Strawberry Picking
During the holidays my parents, friends and I went to a Strawberry Farm to pick strawberries that are fresh and sweet. It was 7 dollars a kilogram. We decided that one kilogram per person was enough.
We knew which strawberries were best to pick, so we avoided getting bruised and small ones.

The strawberry farm was huge and was at least a mile long so we were walking a long time to pick juicy red and delicious strawberries. After paying we went to a smoothie shop that associates with the farm that we went to and had yummy shakes and ice creams. I didn’t enjoy it fully due to the fact that the strawberry farm was somewhat boring because at every area of the farm it was either ripe/rotten/unripe strawberries.
